At Historic Tours of America and Old Town Trolley Tours, we not only love history, we cherish and respect it. We also feel that there is nothing more important than teaching our children about our forefathers, our first colonies, the development of our government and how the events of the past brought us to where we are right now.
Because of our commitment to enriching young minds and sharing the history of the United States, we developed our “We the People” Educational Tour. The Tour is specifically for 8th grade students in Washington DC Public Schools. We offer this tour at no cost and work in cooperation with the U.S. Capitol Historical Society, the White House Historical Society, the National Park Service, the National Archives Foundation and Records Administration, the United States Federal Courts, Children's Concierge and Guest Services.

The tour is a full-day adventure that begins when the Old Town Trolley picks up the students at their school. They embark on a journey throughout our capital city, stopping at Capitol Hill, Lafayette Park, The Lincoln and FDR Memorial and the Supreme Court Building. Along the way, Old Town Trolley’s knowledgeable guide engages the students in activities and discussions about our Constitution, the branches of Government and our Judicial System. They also enjoy a complimentary lunch at the Department of Agriculture.
The “We the People” Tour is an excellent resource for teachers wishing to expose their 8th graders to the significant monuments, memorials and attractions around Washington DC and to reinforce their classroom history lessons. At the end of the day the students will be thrilled by a special tour of the National Archives and an up close look at the Declaration of Independence.
